Rooms are set up in two layers: categories define the type of room and its default rate, and individual rooms are assigned to a category. Set categories up first — you can't add a room without one.
1. Room Categories
A category groups rooms that share the same layout, amenities and price, e.g. "Standard", "Deluxe" or "Executive Suite".
- Go to Rooms → Room Categories and click New Category.
- Give it a name, a description, and its standard nightly rate.
- Optionally set a maximum occupancy and list included amenities (Wi-Fi, breakfast, AC, and so on).
- Save — the category is now selectable when you add or edit a room.
Changing a category's rate only affects future bookings; it does not retroactively change the price of stays already booked at the old rate.

2. All Rooms
This is your full room inventory — every physical room the property has, each assigned to a category.
- Click New Room, give it a room number/name and pick its category.
- Each room shows a live status: available, occupied, needs cleaning, or under maintenance — this feeds directly into the Booking Calendar and Housekeeping Tracker.
- You can temporarily take a room out of service (for repairs, for example) so it no longer appears as bookable, without deleting it.
- Editing a room lets you move it to a different category, rename it, or add notes (e.g. "connecting to room 204").
Deleting a room is only possible once it has no active or future bookings attached — this protects against accidentally breaking an upcoming reservation.
